Peacocks
We were invaded last night.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I looked outside this morning. There was something in the yard. But what were they? Turkey’s was my first thought. Your brain fills in the blanks with things that make sense when what is really there makes no sense at all.
Finally my eyes and my brain came to an agreement.
Those were peacocks.
We do not have peacocks. We do not want peacocks. Driving by a house the other day that does have peacocks we had just been commenting on how awful they would be to have around. Now here our yard was full of peacocks. Where in the world did they come from?
The cow in the corral was extra grouchy this morning. The horses were scared to come up to work with. They coward and spooked and looked this way with dread. The dog was excited. She’s the reason we no longer have chickens. I don’t think these birds are what she bargains for. It did result in one bird on top of the barn before I got her called off. They are having a dreadful affect on all the animals already here.
Where did they come from? We may never know. What is going to happen with them? That will be interesting to see. My husband who was kept up all night by the strange, but now explained, shrieks coming through our bedroom window and who has a huge garden he loves, says they have to go. Not sure how you get rid of something that just showed up. All the cats who have just showed up are still here. Maybe this herd is feral and will move on on their own never to be seen again.
